HNK Hajduk (Hajduk Digital TV)

In the heart of Poljud, right next to the pitch where the history of Croatian football has been written, lies the newsroom of Hajduk Digital TV. Under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Nino Kapitanović, it has served as a training base since 2025 for students of the undergraduate programme Communication and Media and the graduate programme Journalism in Contemporary Media at the University of Split. This opportunity allows students to hone their skills at the very epicenter of the city’s sports life.

A wide range of content is created in the Hajduk Digital workshop, including player interviews, fan stories, podcasts, reports, and promotional materials intended for the online portal, the mobile application, and the 24-hour channel on MaxTV, which also broadcasts matches of the Academy, the first team, and ŽNK Hajduk. From the pitch to the screen, from idea to broadcast, students participate in all stages of production. They begin by writing synopses and developing show concepts, progress through production and the use of filming equipment, and are then tasked with independently editing videos and, finally, making their first on-camera appearances—all under the watchful eye of experienced mentors.

One of the mentors is cameraman and video editor Ante Roca, who praises the collaboration so far and encourages students to get involved:

“Students quickly grasp all the requirements we give them. They fit in immediately, as our team is also young. Given how active they are, I am confident they will perform just as well in any professional environment.”

Roca emphasizes that commitment and proactivity are most valued in the newsroom, and new ideas are always welcome. This comes as no surprise, considering that this is a media outlet responsible not only for a unique mobile application, but also for the first club television channel in Europe.
Journalists, presenters, and cameramen discuss ideas with students and help them implement them as successfully as possible. Through hands-on work, students face professional challenges and gain the experience and confidence needed to meet the demands of the profession and to perform their future jobs independently.

The collaboration between the University of Split and Hajduk Digital TV provides students with the opportunity to experience the rhythm of contemporary sports media and to create content—already during their studies—for one of the largest fan communities in Croatia.
