University of Split Fair – 2024

At the official opening of the University of Split Fair, held on December 2, 2024, in the lobby of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture, faculties, departments, and study programs from Split presented themselves to high school seniors at their specially arranged booths.
The booth of our Communication and Media study program was particularly lively, being one of the most attractive programs in Split. Interested high school seniors were welcomed by the program head, Prof. Dr. sc. Viktorija Car, Associate Professor Dr. sc. Nebojša Lujanović, lecturer Paula Jurišić, assistant Vanja Pavlov, and secretary Petra Žilić, as well as first- and second-year students who answered questions and shared their university experiences.
The seniors were interested in admission requirements, the study program, possibilities for continuing education, and employment opportunities. Guided by the motto, “A program where we read media between the lines,” and understanding that there is no better way to grasp it than by sharing personal experiences, the students shared their stories about studying as well as working in university and local media outlets such as Radio Kampus, Dalmatinski portal, and Radio Dalmacija. The latter is especially valuable as it provides insight into what will be expected from students in their future workplaces.

Besides gaining practical experience working in the media, our students can also boast participation in numerous conferences and seminars—both those organized by our program, such as the Communication and Media Days, and those that students attend thanks to collaborations, including the HUOJ KOMference, Istria Media Days conference, the EU-sponsored conference on media freedom, Pričigin, Quality School of Regional Journalism, Erasmus+ training on disinformation, and many others.
Interested visitors were also explained the significance of the degree they will earn upon completing this undergraduate program, and they were introduced to the offer of graduate studies in related fields.
To make the experience more interactive, visitors had the chance to briefly become journalists for Radio Kampus with assistance from our now experienced students. Some seniors also played a symbol-and-meaning matching game specially designed for this event, and those who got everything right received a small token of appreciation and a keepsake to remember their participation.
