On Thursday, the second edition of the Communication & Media Days 2025 conference was officially opened at the University of Split, organized by the Communication and Media Studies program. Over the course of three days, the conference brings together experts from the fields of media, communication, and journalism, as well as numerous students from Croatia and abroad.

The conference was opened by Prof. Dr. Viktorija Car, head of the Communication and Media program, with a welcome speech in which she thanked the attendees for coming and introduced the speakers participating in the first day’s program.

The highlight of the first day was the panel discussion titled "Guardians of Free Expression: Analyzing the Influence of the European Media Freedom Act on Journalism and Democracy." The panel featured Alex Grech, Director of the 3CL Foundation and professor at the University of Malta, Antonina Cherevko, Senior Advisor in the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, and Maia Klassen from the Baltic EDMO Hub BECID. The discussion was moderated by Nina Shengelia, an expert on the DSA, the European Media Freedom Act, and disinformation.

This year’s conference continues on Friday and Saturday, offering participants a rich program of lectures and workshops.
